The Art of Fencing

Summer is about freedom from schedules, sleeping late,
lazy days reading, adventures & time for trying new things!
One of the camps the kids couldn't wait to sign up for this year was Fencing Camp!
Neither of my children had ever fenced before the camp
but since only 1 child in the camp had fenced before I thought, why not?
Plus what better way to resolve sibling rivalry than spending an entire week
in  full gear, including face masks,  with a foil (a.k.a. - fencing sword)?

All the kids had a great time, they learned so much about the Art of Fencing, the history, all about the different types of fencing, designed their own historic fencing shield
and of course spent lots of time fencing!

At the end of camp I arrived just in time to see my two duel it out

The long awaited match -  brother vs. sister - out of time the match was a tie!
The conversation continues around the house about who will beat who next time!
I think from now on I just might tell them to get their gear and take it outside :-)

P.S.  - Yes, my daughter's messy hair is just a sign of summer!

  1. What a fun way to spend summer! I haven't seen anything like that offered around here, but I should look for next summer. That would be so cool for the girls to do, especially if they got to spar with each other. Your kids are little clones of each of you, Nikki is you and Cole is George.

  2. This looks so fun. What books are you all reading this summer? What a handsome knight and princess. I would be holding my breath if any of my kids got a hold of a foil. Wowzers! You are one brave mama.
