For our Wednesday Family Ski Day we hopped over to Wildcat Mountain this week for some vertical fun. The east coast "snow storm" stayed over 100 miles to our south, but it snowed lightly all day as we skied (the mountains often get their own "snow storms" here) - Our kids really love "snowy" ski days. However, the light snow and very thick clouds obscured our view of Mt. Washington most of the day. I did manage to get one photo from the parking lot of a small portion of the lower quarter of the mountain when it made a brief appearance below the clouds.
Despite the fact that most of the mountain isn't visible in my photo, I still wanted to share it with you.

The photo really doesn't do the scenery justice, so much of the mountain is shrouded in a blanket of opaque clouds and yet I still find such beauty in that. Time in the mountains refreshes me in a way like nothing else. I'm so happy that George & I are able to share this with our kids so often, whether on skis, snowshoes or by foot in the summer. The kids are growing up so fast, and as you can see from the picture below, Cole will soon be bigger than me (Nikki's not far behind him),
Isn't that crazy?

Winter in the mountains is truly breathtaking - it may be my new favorite season.
How was your Wednesday?
How was your Wednesday?
Today, it's back to the usual - but tomorrow - 2010 Olympics - naturally the kids, (really all of us), are pretty excited about the Alpine Skiing - Go Bode!
(Gotta love a homeschooled ski racer from our neck of the woods :-)
And I'm pretty excited about Ravelympics 2010 - start time is Friday 9pm EST - need to choose my project and swatch today - I'm going stash diving this afternoon to see what I can come up with! What are you knitting for Ravelympics?

Such a breathtaking view! You and your children are truly blessed to get such quality and outdoor time with each other. If it were up to Mike, we'd be doing the same thing everyday. I don't mind it once in a while, but I consider myself more of an indoorsman.
ReplyDeletewhat a great blog! I love how large your pictures are...how id you get them so large on blogger?
ReplyDeleteStephanie, Thanks! As for my picture size, I think I just stumbled upon the sizing - I usually select the extra large size for the photos when editing my posts, otherwise I think the image size may be a result of my camera's resolution & my photo editing software? I'm fairly new to the blogging world, so still learning the ropes on all the editing stuff :-)
