Catching up & Jumping Poco

Although our visiting family has decided life here on the homestead is fun and thus decided to stay an extra two weeks,
I'm trying hard to get back to blogging, because I miss you all :-)

I have been busy, working on a new quilt project (finally - and I promise to share it next week after the holiday :-), working alot in the garden and enjoying the fruits of my labor, and tending our flock - they're nearly 11 weeks now and loving free range life - we're excited for our first egg, but it will likely be sometime in mid August, so still a bit more to go.  Otherwise, it's just been the usual, carting kids to summer camps and activities, cleaning, cooking and well, really nothing too exciting to report - we're in relaxed summer mode here in on the homestead and I must say it's long overdue.  I'm enjoying every minute.

Just a special moment to share with you today,
my little girl on quite a naughty pony that really wanted to go and eat hay rather than jump,
but my determined girl told that pony the hay would have to wait a bit for her treat.
Nikki has a special bond with Poco because she was the first horse Nikki began training on when she was just 5 yrs old.  Poco now belongs to one of the young girls at the barn, but the owner was nice enough to let Nikki ride her this week.  Poco is a challenging pony to ride; like all ponies she can be a bit naughty when she wants to, but she is amazing when paired with a confident rider - she can jump almost 3 feet high -  crazy high for such a little pony.  Riding Poco was the highlight of her week.
What was the highlight of your week?

  1. Sounds like you are just as busy (if not more) that us around here. I barely even have time to sit on the computer anymore. Vi is so clingy these days and the girls are constantly demanding snacks, those little grazers. Not getting much done around here lately.
