Out Like a Lion, In Like a Lamb - November

Sure feels like April around here, but my calendar says  November 1st!
October left just like the Lion that March usually is and November came in like a Lamb -
after nearly 20 inches of snow Saturday and Sunday,
today, November 1st, we were back int the 40's for highs.
 George had fun moving the first big snow with his new tractor
 Loki watched the snow fall from the new addition patio door...
after the storm, George was busy clearing for hours

the view from our new living room was quite snowy but so beautiful
I'm imagining snowy afternoons mid-winter, knitting on the couch, enjoying this view...

The snow will take the course of the week to melt -
the sun, cool temps and diminishing daylight won't allow it to happen more quickly;
but it seems all will be back to normal by the weekend.
We never did get our boat out this past weekend,
the temps were far to cold (in the teens overnight);
we'll hopefully get it out of the water this weekend, but not before one more fall cruise -
the temps should be in the 40's and it might be sunny - we hope :-)

November, wow can you believe November is here?

Cole and Nikki were sledding at recess at school today - is that amazing or what?

On the drive to school these last two mornings we have taken in the sights
of a ski mountain graced in snow, trails waiting to be skied...raced...
All this snow has turned the kids minds to ski season, racing -
there is quite some excitement about all the white fluff
in our little NH town these days!

So, Welcome November  -
even by moms who are wishing for one more day of Indian Summer...
...it's really lovely that winter chose to show it's face just a little early -
I think it might be a good and very special thing that we shall always be thankful for :-)

  1. Wow, you guys were hammered. 20 inches! That's amazing to think about in October. Mike will love to hear about George's Kubota. Mike just got a tractor and is looking to get a loader, too, just for the same purpose of moving LOTS of snow when the time comes. Glad you guys got through it safely.
