Pardon the lengthy blogging absence, but the last few weeks have been filled with the busy schedule that I mentioned back at the beginning of September, the one that has a tendency to take over our days and run until midnight daily....
We've had one ill child down with an icky respiratory bug that lingered for 2+weeks (Cole's feeling better now :-) mixed in with homeschooling, ski team preparation and fittings, swim team practices, a swim meet, violin lessons & riding lessons - which are going great, but we're ready for indoor lessons - the windy 40 degree riding days are getting a little chilly.
But, Nikki has moved on and is now cantering!
Nikki on Smith
Nikki cantering on Blaze
This all followed by the Annual Barn Halloween Party
That's one horse and matching child costume completed - yes I said a horse costume
- ( and just in case you were wondering Nikki is the cat and Chaching is supposed to be a mouse :-)
What a great family event, costume parade with the horses, so many sweets, bonfire with smores - all in the company of great friends!

Eye dr. appointments, followed by the addition of some very cute reading glasses,
A mid-month visit from George's mom during which we took a "pre-birthday" trip to Boston with Nikki to the American Girl Doll Shop, talk about overwhelming... but as you can see she had a blast....what little girl wouldn't love to take their doll to the doll hair salon?
Oh and visits from some of the locals....
A Grouse walking right outside the kitchen patio door (in case you had no idea what this bird is)
Our resident compost eating possum - they really are so cute, aren't they?
Oh and I can't forget, orthodontist appointments, our November vacation planning, George off hunting, a little frogged knitting, a snowy morning and lots of leaf raking, stick collecting, wood stacking & fall bulb planting.
And at the end of the long days a little of this...
That's all I can remember for now, but at this point I've simply lost track.... However, I hope to be back weekly in November.
By the way, how is your November starting off?

Wow, you have been busy. Nikki looks so old riding the horses. I can't believe it's been that long since we saw you guys last. We've been on our end, too. It got a bit overwhelming for a while. I still need to respond to your homeschooling email. I had Mike read it, too. I think he's more into the idea than me. He wants to be the "Science Guy"...LOL.
ReplyDeleteJen, glad to know I'm not the only one who gets a little bogged down with life sometimes. Usually something has to give when life gets hectic, it tends to be the blog and my e-mail! I know it's hard to believe that Nikki is almost 7 (she will be at the end of November) - I feel older by the minute :-)
