Pardon the interruption in regular blogging here, we have been quite busy. We had a wonderful extended long weekend with George's Aunt, Uncle and Cousins who came in to visit from Montreal for a few days. We had a wonderful relaxing visit with them, finally got our boat down to the dock for the season and took the seasonal maiden voyage, the boys + Nikki all hiked on the mountains on Sunday, while the girls hung around the garden, chatting, sipping cool drinks and working on our tans :-) On Monday, the girls snuck in some very necessary yarn shopping - we all left with several skeins of lace weight alpaca & the red Cashmere that Anna found was stunning. I can't wait to see how it looks knitted up.
Here's Anna-Maria, George's cousin, this past weekend out on our boat. She and her older brother, Adi, both have the summer off University in Montreal and will hopefully come to stay with us for a few weeks to get out of the city and enjoy some time in the country with us - we'll have to put them to work with all the gardening to be done around here, though - lol :-) We miss them already and can't wait to see them all again soon.

I'm once again getting ready for Guests - George's dad & sister are visiting for an extended holiday weekend, we're so glad they're able to come for a few days because we see so little of them due to their busy work schedules-
and let's not forget the official start to the summer -
New England Memorial Day yard sale weekend!
Good thing George's dad like to wake up early, I think I'll be out the door by 6:30 in an attempt to score some good stuff... more on my finds next week :-)
This week the unseasonably warm weather (yesterday is was in the 90's - ugh!) has meant loads of gardening, getting the last of the seedlings, potatoes, corn & pumpkins in the ground - and yes, lots and lots of weeding...
It's coming along nicely - we're eating radishes, salad, spinach, green onions and garlic and I'm cutting loads of herbs for eating fresh and drying - chives, rosemary, tarragon, oregano, lavender and mint are all flourishing now.
I'm enjoying harvesting the goodies for dinner each night and planning meals to include all those yummy fresh herbs! So much more to share with you in the coming weeks...
I think I messed up my last comment (can't remember if I did the word verification before clicking on another link). I guess I'll try to remember what I typed the first time.
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have a boat. I'll bet it's so nice for these hot days.
The garden seems to sprouting nicely. We also are growing our own herbs in hopes of having fresh herbs for meals soon.
