May Work/Weekending

      This weekend it felt as if all our moments were filled with the work that often occupies our time at this point each year, the work that starts at sun-rise and seems to end after sunset, the work of life on a small homestead; work that leaves every inch of your body tired by the end of the day, but satisfied in what you've accomplished.  The weather was excessively hot and humid (in the 80's) which was intensified by the fact that just a few days before we had several inches of fresh snow -  what a change.  As always when G & I are making something, our original chicken coop barn plan and run were modified, or shall I say improved, to include sky light panels in the roofing along with several other improvements which involved yet another trip to the local hardware store for additional materials.  Thankfully the rain held off b/c the structure is being built "on site."  We're having lots of fun making their new home unique and it will fit in quite nicely on our little New England property.   I hope to be sharing the completed coop with you soon.  By the time it's finished I think it may be the nicest structure on our property :-)    While working away my camera sat mostly unused in the house, but I did manage to snap a few shots over the weekend to share with all of you.

Our rhododendron is in glorious bloom right now in front of the house -
the bees are enjoying all the pollen
...May is here!
The air is fresh and sunny;
And the miser-bees are busy
Hoarding golden honey."

  1. Oooh, can't wait to see the finished coop. Skylights! How nice for the chickens. What a difference between snow and 80's and in such a short period. I can't believe how much NIkki looks like you.
