After over a week of what seemed like never ending rain,
the crew was finally able to begin work again.
In Week 2 of our addition project more digging with the excavator, hauling sand and gravel

the crew was finally able to begin work again.
In Week 2 of our addition project more digging with the excavator, hauling sand and gravel
and by the week's end the contractors built the forms for the footings
The footings were poured with the help of a pump truck
(due to the large size of our addition they couldn't use a regular pump).
It's hard to get a picture of the whole site, but this is the best vantage point I could find
The next day the concrete was set and the crew took down the forms
and left the concrete to dry.
and left the concrete to dry.
Next week the crew will erect the forms for the walls and pour those along with the chimney pad and footings for the posts that will support our new addition
Look forward to sharing that with you at the end of next week -
as long as the weather cooperates, that is!
Until then, I'm enjoying the Lilac Tree -
even if it currently resides next to a massive pile of excavated sand and soil.
The lilacs smell lovely and make me think of June - can you believe it's June?
Happy Weekending

Wow, it's fun to see progress. I can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteI love lilacs. We have one lilac tree that Mike was able to bring back from the dead here. It looked like a ratty, old shrub when we moved in, but he trimmed it up into a lovely tree. It doesn't give us many flowers though, and they only seem to last a couple of days before they shrivel up. Mike picked some to put in a big mason jar. They were beautiful, but the smell was too strong for me and kept giving me headaches...LOL.
