Now that Nikki is 8, English Hunter Jumper Horse Shows seem to be a regular part of our weekends. I'll admit that the prep the day before the show, getting the horse ready, tack cleaned, boots polished, clothes ironed, car packed and often a 4 am wake-up, in the car by 5 am, and a full day of showing is not for the casual rider, but it fits Nikki perfectly. The early mornings and long days remind me of Race Day
Here are some highlights from the last few shows:
Here are some highlights from the last few shows:
Even in the pouring rain - She adores Showing
Nikki comforts her best friend who had a tough event this day
but her friend came back in the next event and placed in the ribbons.
Nikki's First Show ever - 3 events, 3 ribbons, 2nd place & two 3rd places
A few weeks later another 1st place, this time in Equitation, out of a class of 15 riders
Nikki was surprised and excited - I love her expression when she won.
More Blue - Nikki likes Blue even if her pants are soaked from the rain
Nikki's bedroom door is now decorated with 9 horse show ribbons
She hopes to add a few more before the show season is over :-)
More updates on the build soon - I have lots to share!
Until then, wishing you a lovely weekend,
- Erin

Congrats to Nikki! She must really love it to do so well. I can totally relate to all the preparation and craziness of the show after doing the ice-skating show. Definitely not for the novice. Sounds like you guys are going to busy this summer.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny I was just reading an article in the newspaper about how rodeo shows now make up more women competitors than men these days and a guy commented it's because there's just something about a girl and her horse. I'm hoping once we get settled in SD that our many friends with horses will be willing to share rides once in a while with our girls.
P.S. Nikki looks so adorable in all her gear. I've always loved the equestrian look:)
