With skis sharpened and waxed the night before, lunches packed
and boots on the warmers –
Race Days start very early,
5:15 a.m. wake up, 5:35 breakfast (eggs naturally),
load the van with boots and gear, skis in the Thule box

and we’re off, driving to the mountains long before sunrise,
Race registration, bibs over the race suit, cold below zero air prevails;
Then the kids are in the hands of their coaches -
Race faces on, slipping the course,
memorizing every turn,

visualizing the path they must ski, all by 8 a.m.
Race all day

so many photos, videos
Load up all that gear again,
warm hot cocoa in the hands of all after a long, cold day
drive home, eat dinner, shower and off to sleep –
The life of an Alpine Ski Racing Kid –

Wow, that's impressive. Mike was really impressed with how expert your kids look on the slopes. He started grumbling that we need our girls to do that, but then I reminded him that we don't have mountains only minutes away from our home. Plus, we do have them in ice-skating so all is not lost;)
