I woke this morning and felt as if today was suddenly part of the movie Groundhog Day, except I was the star of this movie and it would be called “Snow Day”

No Surprise, we are in the midst of another Snowstorm,
the kids have another Snow Day off school
Sound familiar?
I’m a New Englander and skiing is half my life after all - but another foot today (so far) on top of last week’s storm that left us 2+ feet and the one 2 weeks before that left us 30+inches.. .need I say more?
So, since I’m exhausted from all the shoveling, I feel the need to get this off my chest, clear my mind, just say it...

I’m really tired of shoveling out my car tires so I can get it out of the driveway and I’ve already been through 2 cans of de-icer this month just to open the sliding doors on the van - it’s been minus -8 degrees (minus eight, that's right) the last few nights and sunny during the day - melting snow really loves to freeze overnight in every possible crack – did you know that? Well, I just wanted to make sure you we're up to date on frozen van doors and buried tires! ( ahh, deep breath )
Today, after cleaning the cars (twice), shoveling a path to the barn (3 times) and shoveling just to get out the mudroom door and then once more to get back in, I removed my snow crusted outerwear, came upstairs, loaded some more wood on the fire and then...

I called my husband on his cell, got his voicemail and left him a message to reminded him
that we’re really building the garage
THIS SPRING – AS SOON AS ALL THIS SNOW MELTS -

I seriously have no idea how he’s getting in the end of the driveway (the town plow driver seriously packed the snow at our driveway's end), good thing he has a truck
and a shovel in the truck cab :-)
That concludes my rant on today’s storm, tune in later this week for more interesting blog posts from
A Snowed in New Englander -

Naturally tomorrow I'm skiing :-)

Oh, dear! That is a lot of snow. More than I've had to deal with all at once. I do find though that the winters go much faster as I grow older (still not sure if that's a good thing), so hopefully your spring will be peeking up through the snow very soon:)
ReplyDeleteHaha! Love this. I'm all for rants. They make us feel better. We got a letter in our mailbox last winter from the Post Office, threatening that they'd stop delivering our mail if we didn't kept the snow clear. The thing was, my husband was clearing it every evening, only to have it filled in by the snowplow in the morning. I was in the house with 3 kids 4 and under...you get the picture. Sigh. Winter. If it weren't for the knitting and woodfires, I'd move south!! Just a few more months, sweetie...we'll make it! This year we have less snow but it's cold enough to keep the kids inside at recess (-30 Celsius...that's -22 F!! Yikes)
