Moments from a Snow Day

Yesterday we were graced with another Nor’Easter which dropped 2+ feet of snow in less than 24 hours.
The kids’ school was closed and George had the day off which was perfect because so much snow falling so quickly resulted in several rounds of shoveling and snow blowing

We never really finished it all so I’ll be back at it today
As always, the kids didn’t seem to mind the blizzard conditions and stayed outside for hours

One of our huge pine trees was designated their New Fort

George couldn’t resist all that fresh powder and skipped out around noon for a few hours of skiing.  As for me, aside from shoveling with George and tending to the chickens and guineas, I opted catch up on some sewing and knitting, make our favorite homemade Pizza and to stay close to here

As the daylight faded on this Wintry Day,
I thought about the quiet beauty that surrounded us,
the way the storm forced us to slow down, only choosing to do what was necessary for our survival and comfort and knowing that the next day life would return to schedules as usual, I was thankful for
each moment this beautiful Snow Day gave us!
It gave us so much more than just Snow

- Naturally, lots of skiing in our plans these next few days -
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
I'll see you back here next week

  1. Holy buckets, that's a lot of snow! It actually looks like a lot of fun though, so powdery and fresh. Love the fort idea. My girls would totally love it. Our neighbors down the street manage to get all their snow into a huge mound and then dig out the center to make a very large snow fort. My girls are constantly wanting to go down there to play. The funny thing is that the family's kids are at least all in junior high, but I think the dad just loves his tradition of the making the humongous snow fort.
