Bode & Zoey have found a new working task around here each day
and it seems they love it
Their patience and quiet nature around the horses is amazing

The horses occasionally walk over to the fence almost as if they want to greet the pups
but Bode & Zoey just keep watch silently
To have such pleasure in one's "work" is surely a recipe for happy life, don't you think?
Now if we could just convince them to sit this way and stop herding the chickens...

Oh, that would be nice :-)

P.S. I edited these photos taken this morning to black and white because...
I can't carry my DSLR, do farm chores and manage two puppies that far outweigh me,
so naturally they were taken with my iPod touch - yes, I do farm chores with my iPod and headphones
nothing quite like the Decemberists playing while you tend to the animals and the garden, don't you agree?
Unfortunately, Apple did not pay me to write this and I only wish they would now give me free products for doing so;
but mostly because the the morning sun put a wicked reflection on that mountain ridge behind the horses,
the grass is still brown here, the trees are just barely budding & I still don't have daffodils in my yard -
you get the picture -
basically in color they were nothing spectacular
All that.... just in case you'd like to know :-)

So good to hear from you again on your blog. Yes, ipods are essential. Have a great weekend. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThats too funny! They look so cute keeping guard. I wonder what they would do if they really had horse to watch over.
ReplyDeleteJen, Bode & Zoey have decided these are "their" horses :-) They are being boarded at our neighbors barn and they can't wait each morning to go and watch over them. Our neighbor loves it as I take care of the horses during the week (he works) and the puppies are my helpers and keep unwanted wildlife away - such as the Moose that was in one of his pastures last week, seriously. Now Nikki keeps telling us, "see we should really get her a horse that even the puppies would help her" We are sticking to, "Nikki, you need to be 12" - Only 3 more years and she's counting!
DeleteThats a good rule to stick to. We may have try that one on Mimi since she's been aching for a horse, too. Glad to see that your pups are good around other animals. We had a bit of trouble with Lucy and the chickens when we first let them free range. She unfortunately got one, but mike punished her in a "creative" way and it she's never bothered them since.
