December 10, 2009 - Mountain life & Counting Feet

Just a quick note to say we are now officially counting snow in feet.  Yesterday left us with well over a foot of snow that poured down in just over 6 hours time.  The kids wasted not a minute and while they helped a bit with the snow clearing, snow fort building seemed to be at the top of their list yesterday.  It really is a beautiful site when everything around is covered in white.

No it's not an illusion, the tree is really buried at the bottom -
I'm just amazed at how those branches mid way up can hold over a foot of snow in one clump w/o breaking!

6 grueling hours of shoveling later (sidewalks to the front still not done -but driveway back in working oder),  George and I dropped into bed and spent the night dreaming about all that beautiful white powder... so today as soon as soon as the school work is done and lunch served, we're headed back to the mountain for some more of this....

On top of the mountain, Tuesday 12/8

heading up on the lift for another run

and with our usual 10+ more feet of snow still to come, I think it's time for Santa to bring this family a big, bad snow blower, don't you?
