Last week we took a short trip up North to Montreal for a few days to visit family and celebrate the start of 2010. Now most of you know I'm not much of a city girl, but I love Montreal. In the midst of such a big city it is so easy to feel as though you are in a small town in Europe, the quaint shops, pedestrian only streets and small bakeries, all bring back fond memories of the few years we spent living and traveling in Europe when the children were younger. The people in Montreal are friendly and even on a cold New Year's Eve our favorite park was full of locals enjoying a brisk walk, some sledding or a cozy sleigh ride. The park has a beautiful main building and a fabulous view of the city along the walking path. Here are some photos of our last outing of 2009...
Clearly the squirrels in the park are familiar with humans - they were just checking to see if we had any food, once they saw the kids didn't they were on their way to the next person...

The girls - a little cold but still smiling: Aunt Roxi, Cousin Anna, Erin & Nikki

We are so lucky to have family that live in Montreal which makes our frequent visits even more fun and hope they will be able to come visit us in NH soon. We had a great time, wonderful and plentiful food prepared by George's aunt Roxi and cousins and a little time away - something we all need from time to time, what a wonderful way to bring in 2010.
What a fun treat to spend New Year's with your family and in Montreal of all places. I've never been there, but it looks fabulous. Love those horse-drawn sleds. Those squirrels are a crack-up. Reminds me of when Mike and I went to the UofMN and the squirrels demanded food from us. Too funny! Glad you guys made it home safely.
